Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which are the air passages that carry air to the lungs. It can be caused by either a viral or bacterial infection. Symptoms of bronchitis often include a persistent cough, production of mucus, chest discomfort, wheezing, and sometimes fever. Acute bronchitis usually lasts for a short period and is self-limiting, while chronic bronchitis is a long-term condition often associated with smoking or ongoing respiratory issues. We can help differentiate these causes.

Pneumonia, on the other hand, is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Pneumonia typically presents with symptoms such as cough, fever, chills, chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, and sometimes confusion, especially in older adults. It is important to note that pneumonia can range from mild to severe and may require medical intervention, especially in high-risk individuals.

We offer a range of services to accurately diagnose these conditions and develop an appropriate treatment plan. One essential aspect is conducting a thorough physical examination. During this examination, the provider will assess your symptoms, listen to your lungs with a stethoscope to detect abnormal breath sounds, and evaluate your overall health.

To provide a more accurate diagnosis and rule out other potential causes, we may recommend certain tests which we can perform or collect onsite. These can include:

Laboratory tests: Blood tests can help determine if there is an infection present and provide information about the type of infection, such as a bacterial or viral origin. Many area clinics do not offer this service onsite.

Sputum culture: This involves analyzing a sample of mucus or phlegm coughed up from your lungs to identify the specific bacteria causing the infection, if applicable. This sample would be sent to a laboratory for analysis.

Chest X-ray: A digital X-ray of the chest allows us to visualize the lungs and identify any abnormalities, such as infiltrates or consolidations, which may suggest pneumonia. Our x-rays are interpreted by radiologists and we receive results within 15 to 30 minutes.

SAME DAY PCR for COVID or COVID/ Flu/ RSV: If you're experiencing a cough and suspect COVID-19 might be the cause, we provide advanced COVID and COVID/FLU/RSV testing options onsite. Since symptoms of COVID-19, the flu and RSV can often overlap, this testing modality allows us to determine the accurate diagnosis, ensuring you receive the most appropriate treatment and care plan. Our highly trained healthcare professionals will administer our tests, following the latest testing protocols and guidelines. With quick turnaround times in as little as 10 minutes for rapid testing or 1 -2 hours for PCR testing, we aim to provide you with peace of mind and facilitate timely decision-making regarding your health.
